Payten and Abels weekend fun!

This weekend was a special one, it is not often enough that I get to spend time with my sister and Abel gets to play with his cousins. Kirstin and Payten came up this weekend to spend some time with us. Javy had tournament games scheduled and Brian took Braden to the monster trucks so it was a mommy and little cousin weekend. Abel and Payten played so well together. This is our first real opportunity to have quality playtime with the kids since Abel has been old enough to communicate with his little cousin. Usually when we get together it is for holidays and our time seems rushed to make sure we fit everything in. This time it was different. We didn't have to worry about anyone else but ourselves. We were relaxed and didn't plan for anything, what a great feeling. Let me start by saying that Payten and Abel are on the same wave length! Payten being 3 and Abel being 2 I expected there to be some differences of opinion. Not with them! They both enjoyed our last minute trip to the mall to ride the merry-go-round. Abel chose to ride the reindeer as usual and Payten chose the horse right next to him. She was a little timid about the horse going up and down but a tight grip on Kirstins neck calmed her fears. Abel on the other hand could care less if someone was holding on to him! We then took a quick trip to the Disney store where they picked out matching Minnie Mouse stuffed animals. Yes my son chose Minnie Mouse...oh well he's 2 and loves her. That evening we came home and had a slumber party upstairs and watched Toy Story. There was not much slumbering going on, not until we had the tired teary meltdowns. Sunday morning brought us more smiles, Payten quietly waiting for Abel at the end of the stairs early in the morning. A quick breakfast and a fun and exhausting trip to the park brought our wonderful weekend to and end. The kids enjoyed playing pirates and monsters both of which Abel hung onto Paytens every instruction of how to properly keep the pirates and monsters away. So funny! Kirstin helped me with a quick photography how to with my new camera. It's a work in process. Here are a few of Kirstins photos as well as a few of my own.

Roccos Birthday

Since Abel was sick right after Rocco's birthday party I didn't get a chance to post any photos of it. Roccos is one of Abels little friends that we have a great time with. Rocco's mommy is "Ms. Tracy" one of My best friends. Tracy and I have worked together for years, but it wasn't until we had kids and lived closer to each other that we really connected. So blessed to have such a great friend in my life! Rocco is 11 months older then Abel so we just celebrated his 3rd birthday. They had his party at "little gym" this is the coolest place for kids to run around and be free! Must try taking Abel for some classes.

Toy Story on Ice....

Last Saturday we took Abel to Toy Story on Ice. He loved it!! So much fun to watch him know all of the characters and talk to them as they came out on the ice. He was in his own little world, he thought they were all there to see him! So adorable. My camera didn't work great in the arena but I got a few shots. Poor little guy fell asleep minutes before we got there...good thing he was so excited to go he didn't mind us waking him up :) Abels new thing is collecting the Toy Story Characters, he can also quote all of the movies and does so on a daily basis!

Back to work and back to daycare = back to "normal"

Quick post today, as I am trying to do laundry and clean up the house. We are headed back to our normal life tomorrow. Yesterday was Abel's Doctor appointment to determine if he beat the pnuemonia this time. Wonderful news all is well ! Photos to share our fun day to celebrate :)

What I am doing vs. what I should be doing

I sit here watching my son nap on the couch. I love nap time! This is a time for me to do what I want to do, not always what I SHOULD do. It is not often that a working 8-5 Momma gets to spend so much time home with her sweet little guy, but if you read previous posts you will soon find out that my little guy has had a run of bad luck when it comes to staying healthy. I only have a few more days left at home with him and then it is off to work and daycare again. Thankful for getting healthy, but I do enjoy my time home with him! I digress....I am sitting here thinking about what it is I am putting off in order to partake in my newest addiction; social media. Pinterest, Blogger, Facebook, twitter......you name it I'm hooked. At least for the next two days until I go back to work and get into our "normal" routine, where I will not find time to keep up with all of these wonderful "time sucks" that I have become so addicted to. So here is my list in my head of things I should be doing (mind you as I rattle them off I still logically think this can all be completed while I sit here in front of the computer)

1. Clean Closet
2. Clean Abels Closet
3. Clean out the car (with a toddler in tow..It is no surprise I found a petrified chicken nugget under the seat yesterday..Yuck!)
4. Vacum the house (but wait, my baby is sleeping don't want to wake him up)
5. Make a nice dinner
6. Organize my bathroom drawers (make up everywhere)
7. Finish the laundry
8. Hang that wall picture that has been sitting on the dining room table for a month
9. Get rid of toys that haven't been used in months
10. Grocery store (can't leave kid at home so that is out)

I really could go on and on and on.....but I am happy sitting right here listening and watching my little one sleep. I did find time to paint my nails.....saw this on another blog and had to try it out. So easy! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Baseball...it's a way of life

I finally had a chance to take the little man out to one of daddy's baseball practices. Having a baseball coach for a father Abel already has a love for the game. He wants nothing more then to be out on the field with Daddy!

Feeling better.....

This weekend marks the 10 days of antibiotics for Abel and he seems to be on the mend. We have not had to do a breathing treatment in a few days and his cough is almost non-exhistant. I thought he was starting to have a relapse much like last year when he woke up with a runny nose and a swollen shut eye on Friday morning. No Bueno! I hope and pray that this is just a reaction to the change in weather. When the rain and cold weather starts to come around poor baby usually shows signs of a cold in his eye. Kid can't catch a break!
Abel has been living in his PJ's for the last 2 weeks, felt it was time to finally brave the outdoors!!
Some may think I am crazy, my son will probably hate me for it later but this silly hat is worn each time he steps outdoors. The paranoid mom in me thinking that somehow this will ward off any sickness that may come his way. Keeping a two year old indoors for at least 10 days to recover from being sick is not an easy task. Most kids can go back to daycare after being on antibiotics for a few days. Things are a bit different with Abel. Last year when he had pneumonia for the 3rd time we kept him indoors for 3 weeks. This was not just for recovery, but to keep him away from any additional germs that might try to jump onto his fragile little self. So when the news came back this time that it was pneumonia his Doctor was not afraid to say no daycare for at least two weeks. Keeping a one year old in last year was an easier task then this year. Last year my one year old didn't constantly ask to go outside and play, he didn't follow me around at my feet asking to go to the store or the park. Poor kid just wanted to go anywhere and he wasn't afraid to tell me. His way of expressing himself in these times of frustration often ended with a temper tantrum. This is where I say thank God for grandparents and having company in the middle of the week! My parents came for a visit to help keep my little angel busy and give him some social interaction other than just mommy. Mommy needed the distraction as well. Coming from a busy working mom, who is so used to having adult conversation I quickly realized that my son's temper tantrums were contagious. Only I didn't throw myself on the ground screaming and yelling to go to "Starbucks" .....hmmmm or was that me? Abel enjoyed a few minutes of sunshine with Grandma and loved making "Guacamole". I think he ate more then he made :)
Thinking good thoughts....tuesday we go in for a chest x-ray and a follow up appointment to be sure that Abels lungs are clear. If all is well he can go back to daycare on Thursday and I will be heading back to work. We can then get on with our so called "normal" life. Happy Monday to all :)
